Advanced configuration to manage the Anti-Virus via its Console remotely (for builds 6.0.1.511)

Concerning to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition MP1

If you are going to manage Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition remotely via the Anti-Virus Console, you should additionally configure the product:

1. on the protected server: add user accounts who will mange the Anti-Virus remotely via the Console to the group KAVWSEE Administrators.

2. on the protected server (only if Microsoft Windows Server 2008 is installed on the protected server and the Anti-Virus will be managed remotely via the Console) allow network connections via the firewall for Kaspersky Anti-Virus service.

For it:

1. On the protected server running under Microsoft Windows Server 2008 go to Start > Control Panel > Security > Windows Firewall.

2. In the Windows Firewall settings dialog window click Change settings.

3. In the list of predefined exceptions on the Exceptions tab check the flags: COM + Network access and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).

4. Press the Add a Program button.

5. Specify kavfsgt.exe file in the Add a Program dialog window. It is located in the folder that you have specified as a destination folder during Anti-Virus console in MMC installation. By default the full path to the file is as follows: 

      • in Microsoft Windows 32-bit version: %ProgramFiles%\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 For Windows Servers Enterprise Edition\kavfsgt.exe; 
      • in Microsoft Windows 64-bit version: %ProgramFiles(x64)%\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 For Windows Servers Enterprise Edition\kavfsgt.exe.

6. Click OK.

3. on the remote host with the installed Anti-Virus Console (only if Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 or 2 or Microsoft Windows Vista is installed on this host) allow network connections between the Anti-Virus Console and the Anti-Virus Management Service.

For it: 

    • on Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 
      • Disable Windows Firewall:

1. On the computer on which the Anti-Virus Console in MMC is installed, go to Start > Control Panel > Network connections

2. Right-click Local Area Connection and select Properties

3. In the Local Area Connection: Properties dialog window on the Advanced tab clear the box Secure my Internet connection

4. Click OK 

    • on Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Microsoft Windows Vista 
      • Allow anonymous remote access to the COM applications:

1. On the computer with the installed Anti-Virus Console, go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Component Services.

2. Expand the node Component Services > in the Computers node right-click My Computer > Properties

3. In the dialog window My Computer Properties on the COM Security tab in the section Access Permission click the button Edit Limits.

4. In the dialog window Access Permission make sure that the Allow: Remote access box is checked for the user ANONYMOUS LOGON.

5. Click OK 

    • In Windows Firewall open the port TCP 135 and allow network connections for the executable file of the process kavfsrcn.exe:

1. On the computer with the installed Anti-Virus Console go to Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall

2. In the dialog window Windows Firewall on the Exceptions tab click the Add Port button

3. In the open window in the Name field enter Anti-Virus DCOM, in the Port number enter 135, and choose TCP protocol.

 

Click OK.

4. On the Exceptions tab click the Add Program button

5. In the Add a Program window click the Browse button and specify the path to the file kavfsrcn.exe. It resides in the folder which you defined as a target setup folder when installing Anti-Virus Administrative Tools. By default the full path to the file is following: 

        • in Microsoft Windows 32-bit version: %Program Files%\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition Admins Tools\kavfsrcn.exe. 
        • in Microsoft Windows 64-bit version: %ProgramFiles(x64)%\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition Admins Tools\kavfsrcn.exe

Click OK

6. Click OK in the Windows Firewall window.
