About Social Privacy

This feature is available only in the Plus and Premium subscription plans of Kaspersky app.

Popular social services like Google and Facebook collect your data while you use them. This information is used to personalize your search experience and social interactions. We believe that you should have the option to see which data is being collected and to stop sharing it with the app or other app users whenever you want. The Social Privacy feature lets you manage data collection and privacy preferences in several services — right from our app. With Social Privacy, take control of your data in a single app and learn more internet privacy tips.

How it works

To start using Social Privacy, accept the Privacy Statement as part of the first run wizard or later when you decide to use the feature. This applies if you are using Kaspersky app in the European Union. You can withdraw your consent at any time but doing that limits the functionality of the feature.

Managing data collection and privacy settings

With the Social Privacy feature, you can learn which of your personal data is collected by Google, clear your search history and disable the collection of data.

Manage your Google history

  1. On the main Social Privacy screen, go to the Services section and tap Google. Sign in to your Google account when prompted.
  2. In the History section of the screen, tap the type of history you want to learn more about.
  3. If you want to clear history collected by Google, go back to the Google section of the feature and in the History section, tap Manage history.
  4. On the screen that opens, select the activity history you want to delete. Then tap Delete.

    The collected history will be deleted. If you don't want Google to collect your personal data, disable data collection in the Data collection section on the main Google screen of the Social Privacy feature. Otherwise, new activity history collected by Google will later appear in the History section of the Social Privacy feature.

Manage your Google data tracking

  1. On the main Social Privacy screen, go to the Services section and tap Google. Sign in to your Google account when prompted.
  2. In the Data collection section of the screen, tap Manage data tracking.
  3. Choose the service you want to stop sharing data with and tap Stop Tracking.
  4. If you want to stop data tracking on all services, go back to the Data collection section and tap Manage data tracking.
  5. On the screen that opens,select the services you want to stop sharing data with and tap Stop tracking.

    Your data won't be collected by Google services, but the history won't be deleted. If you want to delete the history, clear the collected data in the History section on the main Google screen of the Social Privacy feature.

If you stop data tracking for apps and web search, personalization of your Google services may be limited. For example, Google may stop recommending places of interest to you, and your web search results may become less relevant. Data tracking will be disabled in all apps and on all websites and devices where you are logged into the same account. After you stop data tracking, for some time Google may still use the information collected about your recent search to improve the web search results during the active session. Disabling tracking does not cause all previously collected information to be deleted. You can review and delete this and other data on myactivity.google.com. Visit policies.google.com to learn more about the data that Google will still collect and why.

With the Social Privacy feature, you can check your current privacy settings on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram and set them directly in the Kaspersky app.

To check and manage your Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram privacy settings:

  1. Open Kaspersky app.
  2. Open the Social Privacy section. Read through the information screens that appear when you open the section for the first time.
  3. On the main Social Privacy screen, go to the Services section and tap Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram. Sign in to your Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram account when prompted.
  4. Tap the type of Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram privacy settings you want to learn more about. Then set any custom rules that you want.

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions about the Social Privacy feature.

How do I disable context advertising in Google services?

  1. On the main Social Privacy screen, go to the Services section and tap Google. Sign in to your Google account when prompted.
  2. In the History section of the screen, tap Manage history.
  3. On the next screen, make sure that all boxes are selected, then tap Delete.
  4. Return to the main Google screen of the Social Privacy feature.
  5. In the Data collection section, tap Manage data tracking.
  6. On the next screen, make sure that all boxes are selected, then tap Stop tracking.

How to I disable context advertising on Facebook?

  1. On the main Social Privacy screen, go to the Services section and tap Facebook. Sign in to your Facebook account when prompted.
  2. Tap Advertising.
  3. On the next screen, turn all switches to OFF.

How do I hide my telephone number on Facebook?

  1. On the main Social Privacy screen, go to the Services section and tap Facebook. Sign in to your Facebook account when prompted.
  2. Tap Search and friend requests.
  3. On the next screen, tap Who can find you by your phone number?.
  4. On the next screen, select Only you.

How do I hide my location from Google?

  1. On the main Social Privacy screen, go to the Services section and tap Google. Sign in to your Google account when prompted.
  2. In the History section of the screen, tap Manage history.
  3. In the Google Maps section, select the Location history checkbox. Make sure all other checkboxes are deselected if you don't want to delete other categories of history.
  4. Tap Delete.
  5. Return to the main Google screen of the Social Privacy feature.
  6. In the Data collection section, tap Manage data tracking.

  8. Tap Stop Tracking.

How do I hide my location from Facebook?

  1. On the main Social Privacy screen, go to the Services section and tap Facebook. Sign in to your Facebook account when prompted.
  2. Tap Additional.
  3. Set the Allow Facebook to track your location switch to OFF.

How do I hide my tagged photos on Instagram?

  1. On the main Social Privacy screen, go to the Services section and tap Instagram. Sign in to your Instagram account when prompted.
  2. In the Personal data section of the screen, tap Photos of you.
  3. On the next screen, select Add manually.

How do I stop people from mentioning me on Instagram?

  1. On the main Social Privacy screen, go to the Services section and tap Instagram. Sign in to your Instagram account when prompted.
  2. In the Other users' actions section of the screen, tap Mentions.
  3. On the next screen, select No one.
