XIAOMI devices
On XIAOMI devices, initial setup is needed in order to ensure that Kaspersky app is working properly.
Some steps may be different, depending on the device model and version of the operating system.
Step 1. Grant Kaspersky app special permissions
Taking this step allows the following features of the app to work correctly:
- Display pop-up notifications that show caller ID information during incoming calls when the device is locked.
- Display pop-up notifications when the app is working in the background.
- Ensure correct operations with pop-up windows when the app is working in the background.
How to grant special permissions manually
- Open the Settings app.
- Perform one of the following actions:
- Tap Apps > Permissions > Other permissions.
- Tap Permissions > Other permissions.
The location of the Permissions section in the device's settings may vary, depending on the installed firmware.
- Select Kaspersky app.
- In the Settings section, tap the name of the permission and select Allow to grant the app the following permissions:
- Show on Lock screen. This permission allows the app to show pop-up notifications with caller ID information for incoming calls when the device is locked.
- Start in background or Display pop-up windows when in background. This permission allows the app to display pop-up notifications when the app is working in the background.
- Display pop-up window. This permission allows correct operations with pop-up windows when the app is working in the background.
Step 2. Lock Kaspersky app in the device's memory
Taking this step allows the app not to be unloaded from device memory by the operating system.
Some steps may be different, depending on the device model and version of the operating system.
- Open the list of all apps running on the device. For example, hold the middle button until the list of all running apps appears
- Perform one of the following actions:
- Swipe down on Kaspersky app. The
icon appears.
- Select Kaspersky app and tap the
icon.
The
icon indicates that the app is locked in memory.
- Swipe down on Kaspersky app. The
Kaspersky app also has the following known issues and possible solutions on XIAOMI devices:
- The app may stop working in background mode, even if it is locked in memory. To fix this, change the settings for the app activity control in the battery settings.
Some steps may be different, depending on the device model and version of the operating system.
For example, on Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with Android 6.0.1, go to Settings > Battery and Performance > Manage apps battery usage > Choose apps (available if the power saving mode is on) > Kaspersky app > No restrictions.
- Kaspersky app might not restart after the device is restarted or the app is unloaded from memory. To fix this, go to the device's Security Center and allow autorestart for Kaspersky app.
- Due to firmware functionality on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the app may not autorun after a device restart. We recommend that you add Kaspersky app to the apps that can autorun or start the app manually after the device is restarted.
- The Safe Browsing component may not function on Xiaomi devices: filtering of malicious and phishing websites may not function. Use one of the following ways to provide full-fledged protection to your device:
- Use the Chrome browser which supports Safe Browsing.
- Go to Safe Browsing settings in Kaspersky app for Android, and tap Grant Access. Continue with the instructions on your device screen and allow the application to get the access it needs.
- After you send the Mugshot command through the Where is My Device feature to a Xiaomi device, the device may display a request on accessing the camera or location service instead of blocking the device. It is confirmed that the issue occurs on Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
